Systems Engineering Support

Our customer had recently adopted Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as an approach to support the train platform design by creating sub-systems as building blocks. The project required support through the left-hand side of the V-lifecycle (concept, preliminary and detailed design).

Our approach

Following the INCOSE systems engineering lifecycle process, within ISO 15288, we focussed on addressing the impact of the latest requirements management process for the vehicle architecture building blocks.

Based upon this assessment, Synoptix then provided support to the requirements manager utilising MBSE, FMECA, FTA and operational analysis. We also provided design assurance, with an independent technical evaluation, through a detailed review process. The output was to produce a set of design and compliance reports that could be taken to the authority for final approval enabling the release to service of the systems.

Benefits

Synoptix, being an agile organisation with a dynamic workforce, was able to execute the tasks and provide value for money with a quick turnaround. The relationship between key stakeholders was enhanced through the workshops facilitated by Synoptix, with a level of independence to allow for the optimised solution.
