Synoptix was contracted to provide performance modelling and simulation support on a large-scale defence programme. Complex systems modelling requires validation against real-world data and secondly, configuring the model to accurately represent the system's behaviour. This task included the delivery of a number of complex system performance statements for the prime contractor's customers, as well as validation of the modelling and simulation methods used.

Our approach

Synoptix deployed a Systems Engineering professional with experience in modelling and simulation, and also supported the development and creation of data processing and visualisation toolsets. These toolsets enabled the customer to effectively interrogate modelled data and perform detailed systems analysis. We have been successful in supporting the delivery of system performance statements through mathematical modelling and analysis of model outputs. A developed understanding of the systems ensured that engagement with stakeholders allowed accurate performance modelling and assessment to be conducted, which represented that of the in-service product.

Our support in simulation-based demonstration enabled the customer to meet a number of programme dependant deliverables. Development of MATLAB data processing and visualisation toolsets has also provided the customer with toolsets for future analysis and performance statement generation.
