Fuelling Efficiency for the Energy Sector

The renewable energy sector is coming under pressure to be more compliant with ISO:15288, the systems lifecycle processes standard.

This standard enables organisations to better understand what their challenges are - early on in the lifecycle - by giving an overview of all the processes. This is in turn addresses enterprise and through-life considerations to maximise project success.

Our approach

Our client asked us to support them in complying with several key areas of ISO:15288 – engineering management, requirements definition, integration and verification/validation processes. Initially, this support focussed on two key deliverables:

  • A strategy to implement an agreed roadmap of activities was defined, agreed and deployed.

  • A strategy to implement Systems Engineering across the wider business to support in-flight projects and new projects with an enterprise approach from the outset.

These core activities provided a unified understanding of our client’s current situation, and drove the solutions outlined in our Statement of Work. These solutions included:

  • A gap analysis report to identify which areas required action to comply with ISO:15288.

  • Requirements and Acceptance Management Plan (RAMP) to ensure requirements are signed-off and accepted as the programme progresses.

  • Risk Management Plan to manage and mitigate risks identified from the GAP Analysis Report – to keep projects on track.

  • A tailored Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) to implement Systems Engineering best practices across the organisation.

Benefits

Through our work we were able to get the customer’s programme back on track to time, cost and quality. Looking forward, our customer will benefit from improved knowledge and tools to make them more competitive in the marketplace thanks to their ability to de-risk programmes from the outset – and ensure thorough compliance with ISO:15288.
